ABOUT THE ARTIST

Zarre's intense colors, strong line and placement of the subject within the rectangle, create a straight forward expression that draws us into her paintings.

She titles her paintings with quips that may provide us with a hint at the nature of her subject or that offer a play on words or a twist of things which help to reinforce the archetypal character of the subject.

While Zarre's work is uniquely her own, she has great respect for, and has been influenced in some measure by, artists such as Alice Neel, Christian Schad, Alex Katz, Gabrielle Munter and Alexej von Jawlensky.

Zarre's works have hung at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts affliate in Virgina and she has also been seen in the Artist's Directory of ARTnews. Her works can be found in private collections through the United States and Internationally.
